Alachua County Housing and Strategic Development has a number of funding sources to assist in our mission in the preservation, retention, and expansion of affordable housing in Alachua County. If you are a Developer who is interested in partnering with Alachua County Housing and Strategic Developing and wanting to utilize any these sources or seeking more information, please contact our office at 352-337-6240 or at housing@alachuacounty.us. The funding sources include:

  • Infrastructure Surtax
  • Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
  • Housing Finance Authority (HFA) Bond Financing
  • Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC)
  • Local government Area of Opportunity (LGAO)

Escheated Properties
Escheated Properties

Alachua County Housing and Strategic Development oversees the County’s escheat property stock. These were properties with unpaid property tax bills that feel into the County’s ownership. Alachua County is always seeking ways to best utilize these properties to serve the citizens of Alachua County or to provide opportunities for affordable housing. Alachua County Housing and Strategic Development is excited to offer previously escheated properties non-profit housing providers. These properties have been deemed appropriate for affordable housing and any non-profit housing provider may apply for any of these properties to be conveyed to them by Alachua County.
