What We Do

Our focus is on providing business compliance assistance with Local, State, and Federal Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste regulations.

Businesses are required to follow a wide-ranging set of federal, state, and local regulations for the storage, use, and disposal of Hazardous waste and hazardous materials. Currently there are approximately 1200 regulated businesses in the county. On average we inspect approximately 400 business annually.

We assist local emergency response agencies with reducing the environmental impact of vehicle crashes and other hazardous material spill responses (approximately 85 responses with remedial activities yearly).

In addition, we respond to complaints involving businesses, construction sites, and some residential settings regarding Hazardous Materials. Complaint investigation and inspections are the majority of our response work.

Why do we do what we do: We want to preserve and protect the quality of our groundwater, springs, rivers, lakes, and creek resources. It’s about the water and finding the balance between business and regulatory and the environment!
