Practicum and Internship Opportunities

The Crisis Center hosts practicum and internship opportunities for master and doctoral level students in counseling related degree programs including CARCREP accredited Counselor Education (mental health, marriage and family therapy, rehabilitation counseling), COAMFTE accredited Marriage and Family programs, and Counseling Psychology. It is important to acknowledge that we require a consecutive two-semester commitment.

We are honored with the responsibility of training developing counselors and have created a plan of involvement in our Crisis Center that is supportive and immersive:

• Be scheduled for face-to-face counseling appointments during regular business hours: Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm (10 hours per week for practicum, 15 hours per week for internship).
• Perform case management (2-3 hours per week).
• Participate in group supervision (1.5 hours per week).
• Participate in weekly individual supervision with one of the clinical staff as assigned (1 hour per week).
• Serve as an associate on our emergency Mobile Crisis Response Team alongside a more experience crisis team member (one 14-hour on-call shift every two weeks).

You may choose to participate in our clinic for couples and families one evening per week, where you work with a co-counselor and a reflecting team. You will also have the opportunity to help with community presentations and trainings, along with other activities at the Crisis Center.

In honor of the collaborative nature of the Crisis Center, we try to host staff facilitated interviews which means that multiple staff members are present during the interview.
