May Environmental Horticulture Programs

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental Horticulture programs for May 2022. These programs are being offered by Dr. Cynthia Nazario-Leary, Environmental Horticulture Agent.

Propagation for Beginners – May 3, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Alachua County Ag Auditorium (22716 W Newberry Road, Newberry)

Whether being frugal in meeting garden needs or finding a plant in a friend’s yard that they have offered to share, understanding the basic principles of plant propagation can help make the most of a garden while preserving the rest for all to continue enjoying. Participants learn different types of propagation methods available through demonstration and practice.

There is no registration fee, but participants must register online. This program is limited to 50 participants.
COVID-19 Precautions: Masks are highly recommended.

2022 Master Gardener Volunteer Plant Sale – May 14, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (22712 W Newberry Road, Newberry)

The Master Gardener Volunteer Plant Sale will have a variety of herbs, annuals, perennials, natives, trees, and more will be available at exceptional prices. Master Gardener Volunteers will be on-site for advice on the selection and care of your plants. 

There will be a plant diagnostic booth available for you to bring samples for analysis, the IFAS Extension Bookstore will be on-site selling gardening publications, and a presentation will be held on “Reducing Sodium with Herbs” at 10 a.m., in the Ag Auditorium.

Admission and parking are free.
