Irma Recovery: Solid Waste and Yard Waste Update

Today, Wednesday, September 20, 2017, WCA is working on collecting containerized yard trash pick-up in the following neighborhoods:

Wilds plantation
Valwood
SW 24th Ave corridor
Cobblefield
Buckingham south

Large Debris pick-up for Wednesday is in the following areas:

Finishing Lake Forest (moving to East University and Lakeshore Drive)
Spring Forest (working west along Millhopper Road)
West hills (moving west along Newberry Road)
SE Hawthorne Road (moving west towards Kincaid Hills)

The County is running yard trash routes for containerized yard trash from Monday through Thursday.

Tomorrow, WCA will focus on the following neighborhoods to collect containerized yard waste:

Hayes Glenn
Abbey Glen
Cheney Walk
Longleaf
Mentone
Deer Run
Hunters Glen
San Felasco Estates
Strawberry Fields
Belmont
Turnberry Lake
Buckingham South
Cobblefield

A couple of reminders for residents:

  • Residents should consolidate vegetative debris piles as much as possible to expedite collection.
  • Remember to keep emergency storm demolition debris separate from vegetative debris.
  • Those who have emergency storm demolition debris are asked to call for a pick up (pick-up will be schedule) at 352-338-3233.


Alachua County asks for residents to be patient, remember to be kind and thank customer service folks, drivers and contractors, they are working hard to help us all recover from this disaster event. They have homes and families too and many are away from their loved ones to work for our community.
