February Commercial Horticulture Program

beekeepingThe UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture Program for February 2020. This program is being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent.

Beekeeping Series: Colony Management & Swarm Control – February 29, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the UF Honey Bee Lab (1881 Natural Area Drive, Gainesville) 

This class is designed for beginner and intermediate beekeepers. Instructors will demonstrate how to perform colony splits to prevent swarming. Live bees will be used, so participants should dress in protective clothing (closed-toe shoes, long sleeves, or a beekeeping suit if available). 

The registration fee is $15.00 (includes materials and refreshments). Participants must register online​ (those needing assistance with registering can call the Extension Office at 352-955-2402) by February 26. There are no refunds for the registration fee.
