Disability Awareness Month Virtual Event

The Alachua County Equal Opportunity Office and the City of Gainesville's Office of Equity and Inclusion invite residents to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in all areas of public life. They are hosting a virtual panel discussion on the topic of Employment on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 10 a.m. to noon. The webinar is free, but participants must register online.

Participants will learn about employment challenges, resources, and opportunities for persons with disabilities, and about advocacy and support services available.

Presenters include representatives from Disability Rights Florida, Center for Independent Living of North Central Florida, Vocational Rehabilitation, Goodwill Industries, and the University of Florida Disability Resource Center.

“This is a good opportunity for local employers and the public to learn more about disability rights, prohibitions against discriminatory practices in the workplace, and efforts to advance equal employment opportunity for individuals with disabilities,” said Alachua County Equal Opportunity Manager Jacqueline Chung.
