Alachua County Commissioner Ken Cornell Appointed to Finance and Audit Committee

On June 28, Alachua County Commissioner Ken Cornell was chosen to serve on the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) Finance and Audit Committee. He was appointed by the board, chaired by Commissioner and FAC President-Elect Terry Burroughs.

In speaking of the appointment, Cornell said, "Being appointed to the Finance and Audit Committee by the board is truly an honor. The Florida Association of Counties has been instrumental in my growth as a leader, and I am grateful for the opportunity to give back through my service on this committee."

"Commissioner Cornell's dedication to the mission of FAC has shown through his service on policy committees and his voluntary pursuit of county government education," shares President-Elect Commissioner Terry Burroughs. "He was an obvious choice to appoint to this committee, as I know he will act with the association's best interest at heart."

The Finance and Audit Committee is a standing committee of FAC that meets four times yearly to review and discuss the association's financial situation.

As a member of the Finance & Audit Committee, Commissioner Cornell will work with the board to help evaluate and make decisions regarding the financial standing of FAC, such as budgets, allocations, and audits.

Founded in 1929, the Florida Association of Counties has represented the diverse interests of Florida's counties, emphasizing the importance of protecting home rule – the concept that communities and their local leaders should make the decisions that impact their community. The Florida Association of Counties helps counties serve and represent Floridians effectively by strengthening and preserving county home rule through advocacy, education, and collaboration.
