August Environmental and Community Horticulture Programs

Florida Friendly LandscapingThe UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental and Community Horticulture Programs for August 2020. These programs are being offered by Dr. Taylor Clem, Environmental and Community Horticulture Agent.

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Crash Course Series: The Water in Our Landscapes – August 3, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is a Zoom webinar.

The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program is a series of nine landscaping principles to help protect Florida’s natural resources. In this education series, participants learn in-depth topics related to the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program’s nine principles. After participating in the series, participants will be a champion of a beautiful landscape that can protect water resources, protect important insects, attract wildlife, and more.
This series will highlight different topics each quarter, the third program in the series will cover the role of water in landscapes, which includes using rain gardens, cisterns, rain barrels, and more. The final program in the series will be held on November 2 (From the Ground Up). 

There is no registration fee, but participants must register online (those needing assistance with registering can call the Extension Office at 352-955-2402). This webinar is limited to 100 participants.  

The Living Landscape – August 17, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is a Zoom webinar.

Landscapes are commonly seen as static, but are quite the opposite. Landscapes are dynamic, ever-changing, and teeming with life. This webinar teaches the many ways landscapes can play critical roles within the environment.

There is no registration fee, but participants must register online (those needing assistance with registering can call the Extension Office at 352-955-2402). This webinar is limited to 100 participants.
