Alachua County Hazardous Waste Collection Program The Environmental Protection Department provides County residents a convenient, environmentally friendly and FREE of CHARGE service for the disposal and recycling of household hazardous wastes including:
Household chemicals;
Automotive fluids and batteries;
Paints;
Pesticides and corrosive chemicals;
Solvents;
Old medicines/pharmaceuticals;
Electronic scrap including TVs, monitors, computers;
Fluorescent and other mercury containing bulbs;
Many other hazardous wastes and special services

The Alachua County Hazardous Waste Collection Center (HWCC) is open year-round, six days a week to the public. Call 352-334-0440 for more information. Located at 5125 NE 63rd Ave., Gainesville, Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station
Five Rural Collection Centers also accept certain types of hazardous wastes. Locations of Collection Centers are shown below.
Alternative Local Options -- Several local businesses also provide convenient recycling options for their customers for limited types of wastes such as compact fluorescent lamps, batteries, used motor oil and pharmaceuticals. Call 352-334-0440 for more information about these options.
Small Businesses -- The Hazardous Waste Collection Program also offers a fee based disposal service for hazardous wastes from small businesses. Click here for more information.
