Sexual Assault Awareness Month 34th Street Wall Painting Event

In celebration of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Alachua County Community Support Services' Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center invites the community to join them in painting the 34th Street Wall on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 9 a.m. to noon.

This year’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month campaign theme is “Embrace Your Voice.” Participants have the opportunity to write messages of support and empowerment to survivors of sexual violence. The Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center will provide paint and supplies such as brushes, rollers, and paint trays. Community members are also welcome to bring their own supplies. This event is free and open to the public.

“Our goal in painting the wall is to let survivors of sexual violence know that our local community supports them,” said Sexual Assault Program Manager Jessie Lazarchik. “We believe you, we value you, and we want to connect with you.”
