July Commercial Horticulture Programs

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture Programs for July 2018. These programs are being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville) unless otherwise indicated.

Pesticide Training for Private Applicator & Agricultural Row Crops – A Review – July 5,  from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This workshop is designed to provide training for the private applicator agricultural pest control license. The private applicator license is required for anyone that applies restricted use pesticides to their own farm, greenhouse or nursery. CEU's will be available.

Participants must register online by July 2nd. The registration costs $20.00 (includes lunch and materials). There are no refunds for registration costs.

Beekeeping: Hive Pests and Queen Loss – July 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the UF Bee Unit (1881 Natural Area Drive, Gainesville)

This workshop is designed to teach about causes of honeybee colony losses, queen issues and pest management. There is a special emphasis on Varroa Mite. Live bees will be used.

Participants should dress in protective clothing (closed toe shoes, long sleeves, please bring beekeeping suits if available).

Participants must register online by July 11. The registration fee is $10.00. There are no refunds for registration costs.
