July Commercial Horticulture Program

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture Program for July, 2017. This program is being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville).

Is Organic Certification for You? – July 31, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This program is for new growers wanting to offer organic produce to their clients or an experienced grower looking into transitioning some acreage to organic farming.

Topics include the main requirements for certification, working with a certification agency, how to prepare an operation for application, complying with record keeping requirements, learning how to identify inputs acceptable for organic production, advice, tips, and lessons learned form an experienced certified organic grower and cost-sharing.

This event will not focus on specific organic farming techniques. If there is sufficient interest, follow up trainings will be designed for this purpose.

The registration fee is $18.00 ($20.00 after July 26). Participants can register online. There are no refunds for registration costs.
