Fire Rescue Fighting Brushfire

Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) units are currently fighting a brushfire in the location of N.E. Waldo Road and 53rd Avenue. The Division of Forestry has plowed a line around the fire to help contain it. Firefighters are working hard to extinguish the blaze.

The fire is contained to 2 1/2 acres between Waldo Road and Monteocha Road. There may be residual smoke throughout the day and later into the evening. Please use caution when driving in the area as there may be poor visibility.

ACFR would also like to remind citizens that conditions are very high for brushfires right now. Residents should be very careful with any campfires, tents, or cigarette butts.
