County Labor Day Schedules and Waste Collection

Waste collectionOther than emergency services, all Alachua County government offices will be closed on Monday, September 6, 2021, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Animal Services Officers respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays, to matters affecting public safety and animals in immediate danger. Citizens should dial 911 to report such emergencies on Sundays, holidays, and between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. nightly. During regular hours (Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., excluding holidays), Alachua County Animal Services can be reached at 352-264-6870. 

Residential curbside collection service for solid waste, recycling, and yard trash will not be affected by the Labor Day holiday. In addition, the Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station will be open during regularly scheduled hours on Monday, September 6.

The five Alachua County Rural Collection Centers, the Hazardous Waste Collection Center, and the Office of Waste Collection will be closed on Monday, September 6.  They will resume normal schedules on Tuesday, September 7.
