County Holiday Schedules

Other than emergency services, all Alachua County government offices will be closed on December 23, 24, and 31, 2021, in observance of the holidays.

Curbside Waste Collection/Collection Centers

Alachua County’s Monday through Thursday residential curbside collection services for solid waste, recycling and yard trash will not be disrupted due to the observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.

The five Alachua County Rural Collection Centers, the Hazardous Waste Collection Center, and the Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station will be closed on Saturday, December 25, and will resume regular hours on Monday, December 27. Also, these facilities will be closed on Saturday, January 1, and will resume regular hours on Monday, January 3. 

The Office of Waste Collection will be closed beginning Thursday, December 23, and will resume regular hours on Monday, December 27.

Animal Resources & Care

Animal Resources & Care (3400 N.E. 53rd Avenue, Gainesville) will be closed on December 24, 25, and January 1.  All other days, offices will be open regular hours.

Animal Resources & Care Officers respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays, to matters affecting public safety and animals in immediate danger.  Citizens should dial 911 to report such emergencies on Sundays, holidays, and between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. nightly.  During regular hours (Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., excluding holidays), Animal Resources & Care can be reached at 352-264-6870.

Shelter hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Clerk of the Court

The Office of the Clerk of the Court will be closed December 23, 24, and 31. All other days, offices will be open regular hours.

Property Appraiser

The Property Appraiser’s Office will be closed December 23, 24, and 31. All other days, offices will be open regular hours. Visiting the Property Appraiser’s Office is currently by appointment only. Visit the Property Appraiser website to make an appointment.

Supervisor of Elections

The Supervisor of Elections Office will be closed December 23, 24, and 31. All other days, offices will be open regular hours.

Health Department

The Health Department will be closed December 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, and January 1, 2022. All other days, offices will be open regular hours (Hours vary depending on services needed.).
