County Commissioners celebrate Amateur Radio Week leading to Field Day competition

​Amateur radio does so many great things for youth and adults, all throughout the year and especially during disasters, that the Alachua County Commission proclaimed June 21-28 as Amateur Radio Week at their June 9 public meeting. Commissioner Anna Prizzia and Interim Fire Chief Jeff Taylor made the presentation to multiple local ham radio volunteers who volunteer at the direction of Emergency Manager Jen Grice.

Alachua County approves land use, zoning change for planned UF golf course

​The proposed golf course would sit west of Haile Plantation and south of Tioga, along Parker Road. In addition to the greens themselves, the course will include up to 30 cottages for overnight guests and up to 145,000 square feet of team amenities, clubhouses and maintenance facilities.
