Hurricane Irma Recovery: Solid Waste/Yard Waste Update

IrmaThe following rural collection centers will be open Thursday, September 14, 2017: Fairbanks (9920 N.E. Waldo Road, Gainesville, FL 32609), North Central Rural Collection Center (10714 N. SR 121, Gainesville, FL 32653), High Springs (16929 S.W. US Highway 441, High Springs, FL 32643) and Archer (19401 S.W. Archer Road Archer, FL 32618). Alachua County is working on restoring operations at the remaining centers.  Hours of operations for the three centers for Thursday, will be 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

The Leveda Brown transfer station is open for regular operating hours on Thursday, September 14, 2017 (7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

Alachua County’s emergency storm debris contractors will begin removing debris from the Deer Run and West Hills neighborhoods on Thursday, September 14, 2017.  Curbside collection of garbage and recycling will continue on a one day delay.  Please be aware that there are very high volumes of garbage. So, if your neighborhood is missed, it will be picked up on the next sweep.

We are asking all residents to refrain from bringing construction and demolition debris to the Leveda Brown transfer station.  If possible, residents are encouraged to take construction and demolition debris to one of these locations:

Watson Construction (12890 N.E. SR 24 in Archer, FL), open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Watson also accepts wood debris. To contact Watson Construction, call 352-495-9948.

Florence Recycling (3222 S.E. Hawthorne Rd in Gainesville, FL), open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. To contact Florence Recycling, call 352-375-5189.  Florence does not accept wood debris.

Please divert as much construction and demolition debris as possible to these locations. Please call for fees schedule.
