Never Forget Ceremony

Alachua County Veteran Services in collaboration with Rolling Thunder Florida Chapter 3 are having a “Never Forget” ceremony on September 16, 2017, beginning at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park (7430 S.W. 41st Place, Gainesville) in recognition of National POW/MIA Remembrance Day. This day is observed across that nation on the third Friday of September. To include citizens who are unable to leave work for this day, this event is being held on Saturday, September 16th. National POW/MIA Remembrance Day is when many Americans take the time to remember those who were prisoners of war (POW) and those who are missing in action (MIA) as well as their families.

Alachua County Veteran Services Director Kim Davis said, “All are welcome to join us as we take this time to honor the American service members who served our nation while in captivity by the enemy and the over 83,000 American service members who are still unaccounted for from our wars.”

For more information, contact Kim Davis at 352-264-6740 or kdavis@alachuacounty.us.
