Agriculture and Natural Resources Program

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Agriculture & Natural Resources Program for September 2017. This program is being offered by Dr. Kevin Korus, Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent.

Fall Pond Workshop Series – September 21, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. (additional workshop series dates are October 17, and November 14), at the University of Florida Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (7922 N.W. 71 Street, Gainesville).

The fall pond workshop series covers different topics for each of the scheduled dates. The workshop scheduled for September 21st is conducted by both Dr. Charles Cichra and Dr. Kevin Korus.  Dr. Cichra covers fish pond management (including construction, species selection and stocking rates/times, harvesting, and management options). Dr. Korus discusses determining the area and volume of the pond (information that is needed for stocking purposes, water quality management, aquatic weed control, and fish health treatments). Presenters will stay after each program to answer questions not addressed. A variety of handouts will be available.

The registration fee is $6.00 (includes light refreshments) for each workshop. The workshop is limited to 35 participants for each date. Participants can register online. Those wanting participate in the additional workshops can register online for the October 17, 2017 workshop, and register online for the November 14, 2017 workshop. There are no refunds for registration costs.
