Citizens needed for the Citizen Climate Advisory Committee

Art Grant applications now open

Firefighters extinguish fire at large workshop/barn

​At about 5:45 a.m., crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue and Newberry Fire Department responded to a fire at a structure that housed heavy equipment and multiple vehicles. Witnesses reported hearing explosions as several propane cylinders and fuel tanks were compromised and ruptured. The fire was eventually extinguished.

Alachua County Fire Rescue, Newberry Fire Department extinguish massive barn fire

​Alachua County Fire Rescue and the Newberry Fire Department were dispatched July 1 to a massive fire at a barn/large workshop.

​In a social media post, ACFR reported that the structure housed heavy equipment and multiple vehicles. Witnesses said they heard explosions as several propane cylinders and fuel within the building were compromised and ruptured during the blaze.​

ACFR reported late Tuesday morning that the blaze had been extinguished and that no injuries or deaths occurred as a result of the fire.​
