ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - At today’s Alachua County Special Meeting (October 4, 2016), the Board of County Commissioners unanimously agreed to request the Veteran Services Advisory Board to discuss the location of the Confederate Soldier Statue, currently located on the west side of the County Administration Building (12 S.E. 1st Street, Gainesville).
Their recommendations would then be forwarded to the County Manager who would agenda the item for further discussion, along with options for consideration, at a future Commission meeting. The date of the Veteran Services Advisory Board meeting, held at the Veterans Memorial Park – Freedom Center, has not yet been confirmed.
