4th Annual Ag Tour May 15

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL -The Alachua County Rural Concerns Advisory Committee is a citizen committee established by the County Commission to provide guidance and advice regarding rural concerns and issues within the County.  As part of their 2007-08 Work Plan, they have organized an Agricultural Tour spotlighting the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) for the County Commission, Constitutional Officers, and County staff on Thursday, May 15, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The public is welcome to attend.

This year's tour will travel to Marion County to tour the IFAS Plant Science Research and Education Unit in Citra and will include presentations that provide an overview of the many functions of IFAS and how these services benefit the County.  The tour will begin at 8 a.m. at the Alachua County Cooperative Extension Office, 2800 NE 39th Avenue, and will end back at the Extension Office for a time of discussion from 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Go to http://www.alachuacounty.us/gm  to see the agenda/itinerary and a map of locations.
