August Agriculture & Natural Resources Programs

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Cooperative Extension Office is pleased to announce the following Agriculture & Natural Resources Programs for August, 2011.  These programs will be conducted by Barton Wilder, Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent. 

Pasture Herbicide Demonstration- August 16, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Ramsey Stock Farm (3615 SW Wacahoota Road, Micanopy)

Topics include: herbicide demonstrations and recommendations, pasture weed identification and woody brush control.

There is no cost to attend, please register by August 12th at 352-955-2402. Pesticide CEUs and CCAs will be available. 

Private Applicator Pesticide School- August 17, 8:30 a.m.to 6 p.m., Alachua County Cooperative Extension Office (2800 NE 39 Avenue, Gainesville)

This workshop is designed to provide training in practices related to Private Applicator Agricultural Pest Control License for anyone working in the agricultural industry.

Lunch is included in the registration fee. Full day registration fee is $45.00 (includes books), $15.00 (no books) and half day session fee is $5.00 (doesn’t include lunch). Please register by August 15th at (352)955-2402.  CORE exam & Private Applicator exam will be offered at the end of their session.  3 CORE & 3 Private Applicator CEUs will be offered, CCAs will be available.

Worker Protection Standard: Train the Trainer Workshop- August 18, 8:30 a.m. to noon, Alachua County Cooperative Extension Office, (2800 NE 39 Avenue, Gainesville)

Federal and State law require that all agricultural workers be trained in the Worker Protection Standard by their 5th day on the job.  By attending this workshop you will receive: training in all major aspects of Worker Protection Standards (WPS), WPS Train the Trainer materials, handouts of educational material and a Department of Agriculture Inspector will be present to answer questions on WPS enforcement and compliance.

There is a $5.00 registration fee, please register by August 15th at (352)955-2402. 3 Private Applicator CEUs will be offered.
