Holiday Tree Disposal

Tuesday, December 29, 2015 4:00 PM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Office of Waste Collection is reminding residents needing to dispose of old holiday trees that these trees can be left curbside, or at any of the five Alachua County Rural Collection Centers. Residents must first remove all ornaments, garlands, and tinsel, and place trees at the curb like any other yard waste. Trees larger than six feet in length must be cut in half to be accepted.

For residents dropping off trees at any of the rural collection centers, be sure to place them in the yard waste collection area. Again, trees larger than six feet in length must be cut in half to be accepted. All artificial trees can either be donated to resale stores, or placed with regular household trash for collection.

Holiday lights can be recycled at all of the collection centers, including the Leveda Brown Environmental Park (5115 N.E. 63rd Ave, Gainesville), and the five rural collection centers. The Alachua County Rural Collection Centers are open Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The rural collection centers are located:
