Veteran Job Fair

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County invites veterans in North Central Florida to the "Veteran Job Fair" on Thursday, July 2, 2015, beginning at 9 a.m., at Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center (1028 NE 14th St., Gainesville). The event is free and open to all who have served in the military.

The Veteran Job Fair event is sponsored by Alachua County, CareerSource North Central Florida, the City of Gainesville, the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, North Central Florida Society for Human Resources Management (NCFSHRM), Santa Fe College, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and UF's Collegiate Veteran Success Center.

Alachua County Economic Development Coordinator Edgar Campa-Palafox said, "If you served in the military and you are looking for a job opportunity, come and speak with more than 30 regional employers and apply for current openings."

In preparation to the Veteran Job Fair, the North Central Florida Society for Human Resources Management (NCFSHRM) is organizing a Preparation Workshop. The name of the workshop is “Resume Tips and Interview Strategies: Translating Military Experience to Civilian Jobs.”

This workshop will discuss ways veterans can effectively sell military experience when applying for civilian jobs. Topics will focus on resumes and interviewing strategies.

The workshop is taking place at the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce (300 East University Avenue, Suite 100, Gainesville), on Tuesday, June 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event is free to attend and open to all who have served in the military.
