Monday, April 27, 2015 3:15 PM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Environmental Protection Advisory Committee (EPAC) is hosting a series of three panel discussions called, “A Community Conversation About the Future of Development in Alachua County.” The first discussion focuses on water and wetlands, and is on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 6 p.m., at the Alachua County Health Department (224 S.E. 24th Street, Gainesville). The panelists for this discussion include Pierce Jones, Marc Kramer, Del Bottcher, Mark Clark and Cynthia Barnett. It will be moderated by former EPAC Chair Bob Palmer. The event is free and open to the public.

Panelists will address all development in Alachua County, not development in any particular project or place. They are to consider what changes can be made in the County to ensure a sustainable future for both the citizens and the environment.

The next panel discussion in the series, focusing on natural resources, is on May 27, with the final discussion on the built environment, on June 24. These meetings begin at 6 p.m. and are held at the Alachua County Health Department.

EPAC provides an opportunity for citizen involvement on environmental issues and concerns affecting residents of the County. It advises the Board of County Commissioners on appropriate measures to safeguard air and water resources and on responsible management of public lands and resources.
