Memorial and Candle Lighting for Victims of Lynching in Alachua County

On February 7, 2020, an incredibly diverse group of people came together at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church to hold a memorial service for the 46 victims of lynching in Alachua County. The five-minute story below captures the significance of this very moving event.

Victims of Lynching Memorial Service:  Initiated by Alachua County Commissioner Charles Chestnut, on February 7, 2020, Alachua County held a service at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Gainesville/Alachua County to honor the over 40 victims of lynching in our county.  The video below is the service in its entirety
