Mission & Vision
EPD Mission
To support a community ethic of environmental resiliency and responsible environmental stewardship of the water, air, and living resources in Alachua County.
EPD Vision
Clean water, air, land, and healthy flora and fauna will be preserved and protected in Alachua County by optimizing, not compromising, the balance between natural systems and people.
Divisions
Acquires, manages, and improves environmentally significant lands to protect water resources, wildlife habitat, and to provide natural areas suitable for resource-based recreation. Visit our site to learn more.

Staff protect the water, soil, air quality and property values in Alachua County from current and future impacts of hazardous materials discharges. Visit our site to learn more.
Staff are responsible for ensuring that new and existing developments comply with Alachua County's land development regulations related to natural and historic resources protection. Visit our site to learn more.
Staff provide oversight and management of clean-up at contaminated sites, inspection and regulation of underground storage tanks, promotes reduction in air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, provides environmentally proper hazardous waste collection and disposal and promotes public education in pollution prevention. Petroleum Management Manages clean-up of petroleum contaminated sites and the inspection of above ground and underground storage tank facilities.
