    The Environmental Protection Department provides County residents a convenient, environmentally friendly and FREE of CHARGE service for the disposal and recycling of household hazardous wastes including:

    • Household chemicals;
    • Automotive fluids and batteries;
    • Paints;
    • Pesticides and corrosive chemicals;
    • Solvents;
    • Old medicines/pharmaceuticals;
    • Electronic scrap including TVs, monitors, computers;
    • Fluorescent and other mercury containing bulbs;
    • Many other hazardous wastes and special services

    ​The Alachua County Hazardous Waste Collection Center (HWCC) is open year-round, six days a week to the public. Call 352-334-0440 for more information.  Located at 5125 NE 63rd Ave., Gainesville, Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station.
