Monday, May 15, 2017 4:15 PM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Foster Grandparent Program is hosting an Open House on Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 8:30 a.m.to 10 a.m. at the Senior Recreation Center (5701 N.W. 34th Blvd, Gainesville). The Open House will highlight both the Foster Grandparent Program and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). These programs are part of the Senior Corps program. Senior Corps is a branch of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Refreshments will be served.

Current volunteers will give firsthand accounts of how involvement in these national service programs has impacted their lives. Those 55 and over are invited to come learn how to make a difference in their local community.

Mayor Pro Tem Harvey Budd will join the event and instate current members into the Senior Corps family by administering the official Senior Corps Pledge.

The Foster Grandparent Program is sponsored locally by the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, and the local RSVP is sponsored by Experience Works.
