10-08-16 10 a.m. Hurricane Matthew Update: Emergency Operations Center Moves to Level 3 Activation, Shelters Closing, and Solid Waste Centers are Open

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Emergency Operations Center is moving to a Level 3 Activation (minimal essential staffing). All three emergency shelters, including one special needs shelter and two general population shelters, are in the process of closing.

There are currently approximately 5,700 homes without power. Those without power can call GRU at 352-334-2871, Duke Electric at 800-228-8485, Florida Power and Light 1-800-468-8243, or Clay Electric at 888-434-9844.

Citizens can call the Alachua County 311 information and rumor control line for current information. The 311 line will deactivate at approximately noon today. At that point residents can still call the normal rumor control line at 352-264-6557. These numbers cannot receive texts. Please use 911 for bona fide emergencies only. While voice calls are preferred, texting to 911 is available if needed. For non-emergencies call 352-955-1818.

All solid waste facilities have returned to their normal hours of operation (They are open today).

Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon
Closed on Sunday

Rural Collection Centers
Monday and Tuesday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Closed on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday
