ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Animal Services (ACAS) is holding its annual “Summer Lovin’ Adopt-a-Thon” sponsored by the Student Chapter of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians on Saturday, August 20, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at ACAS Headquarters (3400 N.E. 53rd Avenue, Gainesville). All cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens are free (fees waived) to approved adopters for this event.

“There is no better time than now to adopt an animal and save a life,” said Shelter Supervisor Jane Grantman. “Over 100 kittens and dogs will be coming back from foster homes for this event. These pets have been in homes with dogs, cats, and kids; so you know you're getting the perfect fit for your family. There will also be great give-away gifts for adopters.”

Pet adopters must be 18 or older and show ID with proof of current address. If there are already pets in the home, the potential adopter must show proof that owned animals are current on rabies and license. All dogs and cats available for adoption are examined, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered before leaving Animal Services.
