Invasive Cogongrass Information and Eradication Program

Wednesday, August 10, 2016 12:30 PM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – On August 11, 2016, a program to address the problem of Cogongrass on County rights-of-way will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners during the Special Meeting, which begins at 1:30 p.m.

Cogongrass is an invasive species which is listed as both a Florida and Federal Noxious Weed. It crowds out native plants by forming dense monocultures which are also inhospitable environments for native wildlife.

Watch this IFAS Cogongrass Informational video, and a more in-depth presentation about the problem of Cogongrass.

Visit the official Cogongrass website for identification and information on control of this noxious weed.
