This press release published at the request of the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Florida Department of Health in Alachua County has implemented a car seat safety program. Every third Tuesday of the month, by appointment only, residents can have their car seat checked for correct installation for free. Residents may also purchase a new car seat and have it installed. The car seat safety checkpoint is held in the front parking lot of the Health Department (224 S.E. 24th St, Gainesville).

The cost of a new car seat is $45. For those on public assistance, the cost is $20. The only method of payment accepted is cash.

“By providing car seats and safety education to the citizens of Alachua County, we can help keep our children safe,” stated Florida Department of Health in Alachua County Community Program Manager Diana Duque. “Our Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians are ready and able to share their training with families. This is where we can make an impact. It is not just about providing an affordable car seat or booster – it is about educating and training so that the children are safe every time they get into a vehicle.”

For those interested in scheduling an appointment, call and leave a message at 352-225-4354. Calls will be returned by the following business day.
