ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Animal Services invites the media to the graduation of the 40th Academy of the Paws on Parole (POP) program on Friday, July 17, 2015, at 9 a.m., at the Gainesville CI Work Camp. Due to security at the facility, the public is not able to attend the event.
The POP program brings together shelter dogs from Alachua County Animal Shelter with inmates (obedience trainers) from the Gainesville Work Camp. The dogs who graduate earn the AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. The graduating dogs are crate trained, housebroken, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and micro-chipped. POP also includes an Aftercare Network, which is a group that works with adopting families and their dogs to help integrate the training the dogs received.
