November Livestock Programs

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Livestock Programs. These programs are being offered by Cindy Sanders, Director/Livestock Agent, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 NE 39 Avenue, Gainesville), unless otherwise indicated.

Grants & Cost-Share Funding Available for Growers
– October 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (with Aparna Gazula, Commercial Horticulture Agent)
The Florida Department of Agriculture – Office of Agricultural Water Policy works with multiple partners including USDA-NRCS, DEP, Water Management Districts, and Soil and Water Conservation Districts to provide funds that assist farmers in implementing Best Management Practices.
In addition, USDA-NRCS has many programs available for agricultural producers.  Some of these include Conversation Stewardship, Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Conservation Innovation Grants, Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative and many more.
This program explains how these federal and state agencies can assist with information about different grants and cost-share funding available for growers.
There is no cost to attend this program.  Please pre-register at least 3 days prior to class by calling 352-337-6209 (voice mail).
1st Annual Florida Fall Cattlemen’s Conference & Trade Show – November 20, registration starting at 8 a.m., at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion (2232 NE Jacksonville Road, Ocala)
UF/IFAS Extension will be hosting the 1st Annual Florida Fall Cattlemen’s Conference & Trade Show.
Topics include: Beef Economics, Does Your Hay Make the Grade?, Pregnancy Diagnosis & Breeding Season Management, Chute Side Manners & Handling, and Feed Tag Math. The Trade Show will display local vendors and will include a drawing for a YETI cooler.
Early registration by November 7 will be $25.00, late registration is $50.00.  Make checks payable to Marion County Extension.
