Animal Services’ Plush Pet Holiday Adoption

Monday, December 19, 2005 12:00 AM

On Thursday, December 22, 2005, Alachua County Animal Services will host what employees hope will be the first of many annual "Plush Pet Holiday Adoption" events.

Numerous stuffed animals have been donated to Alachua County Animal Services, and Animal Services wishes to make these 'PLUSH PETS" available to needy children in the community.

Santa Steve (Animal Control Officer Steve Gayler) will be assisting children 6 years of age and younger in "adopting" the PLUSH PETS at no charge. The children will also receive an adoption certificate thanking them for providing a loving home for their Shelter Plush Pet.

Children may adopt their Plush Pet at the John M. Snyder Animal Shelter located at 3400 NE 53rd Avenue during the shelter’s normal operating hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There is a limited supply of Plush Pets. However, Santa Steve will be there all day long and will listen to children's wishes.

Additional information can be obtained by calling the animal shelter's main number (352) 264-6870.
