Public Hearing for Adoption of Evaluation and Appraisal Report

Monday, August 3, 2009 9:35 PM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL -The public is invited to a public hearing of the Board of County Commissioners on the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) on Tuesday, August 11, 2009.  The meeting will be held at the Jack Durrance Auditorium, Room 209 of the County Administration Building (12 SE 1st Street, Gainesville) and will begin at 5 p.m.

The Board will consider adoption of the Evaluation and Appraisal Report on the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan 2001-2020.  The EAR reviews the effectiveness of the adopted Comprehensive Plan in addressing major community issues and new legislative requirements, and contains recommendations for updates to the 2010/2020 Comprehensive Plan.  The recommendations contained in the report are a culmination of input from the public, County advisory boards, and other local groups, as well as discussion and input by the Local Planning Agency and the County Commission at a series of joint special meetings held in February and March of this year.  On May 20, 2009, the Alachua County Planning Commission, serving as the Local Planning Agency, conducted a public hearing at which they recommended transmittal of the EAR to the Florida Department of Community Affairs and other agencies for review and comment, and adoption of the EAR by the Board of County Commissioners.

The proposed EAR document and other related information is posted on the County's EAR website at http://www.alachuacounty.us/ear.
