Alachua County Veterans Services will hold the 1st Annual Veterans Awards Banquet on January 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Santa Fe Community College, room R-101. The banquet is open to the public. Individuals from the veteran community who have done outstanding service work will be recognized. At the end of the evening one veteran will receive the Jim McCawley Veterans Service Award for being Veteran of the Year. Jim McCawley is the former chairman of the Alachua County Veterans Committee who was involved in erecting every veterans memorial in Alachua County.
