ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Tuesday August 19, 2008, 8 a.m.  briefing by the National Weather Service continued to stress that at the moment, Tropical Storm Fay will likely be a heavy rain event in Alachua County.  A Tropical Storm Watch is still in effect as well as a Flood Watch.  It is not anticipated, currently, to be a major wind event.

Alachua County Public Schools will remain opened.  No shelters will be opened unless a shift in the storm takes place.

Alachua County Emergency Management announced today that the August 21st SKYWARN class is CANCELLED.
