ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - A Public Meeting to discuss the "Old Florida Heritage Highway" (Scenic U.S. 441) Master Plan will take place on November 14, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Micanopy Town Hall located at 706 NE Cholokka Blvd., Micanopy (Public Library building next to Town Fire Station)

Alachua County along with the Corridor Management Council is preparing a Master Plan for the "Old Florida Heritage Highway" to enhance the overall experience for the traveler.  The nearly 50 miles of roadway corridor that make up the Old Florida Heritage Highway goes through the historic communities of Micanopy, Evinston, Cross Creek, Rochelle and Island Grove, as well as traversing  Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park.

The Master Plan will identify open space and recreational opportunities, and develop design and funding strategies for preservation of the scenic corridor.  Historic, cultural, and natural interpretive themes will also be discussed.

This meeting will present design concepts and allow public participation.
