The award heralded the Alachua County, City of Gainesville partnership in the creation of the "10 Year Plan to End Homelessness."

On hand to receive the award were Alachua County Manager Randall H. Reid and Gainesville Communications and Marketing Manager Bob Woods.

In speaking of the award Reid said, "Beginning with Mayor Pegeen Hanrahan and Commission Rodney J. Long agreeing to co-chair the project, this partnership has been a model cooperation between the two entities.  Each of our Commissions and staffs have worked diligently to tackle this difficult challenge."  Reid continued, "Since this effort was launched the partnership has grown geometrically.  Both citizens and other non-profits have contributed time and energy to understanding and ending homelessness in our community."
