NW 16th Ave Project

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – Alachua County Public Works is informing citizens with a monthly press release with updated information on the 16th Ave Mill and Resurface Project. During the month of April, the contractor completed milling and resurfacing the first layer of asphalt from NW 43rd St to NW 34th St (1.1 miles) and completed the majority of the sidewalk widening on the south-side of the roadway from NW 40th Ter to NW 34th St (0.9 miles). Milling and resurfacing asphalt pavement and sidewalk widening will continue throughout May and motorists should expect nighttime lane closures (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) from NW 58th Blvd to NW 13th St and daytime lane closures from NW 51st St to NW 43rd St, from NW 40th Ter to NW 34th St and from NW 31st Ter to NW 16th Ter. Public Works also encourages motorists to stay informed about the project by viewing the project report sheet.

In addition to previously mentioned daytime and nighttime lane closures, the corridor will be reduced to one lane in each direction from approximately NW 31st Drive to NW 22nd St for water main relocation, gravity wall replacement, and reconstruction work (clay removal). The contractor is in the process of revising their maintenance of traffic plan for this work; once the plan is approved by the County, the work will be scheduled.

The current estimated completion date for the entire project is November, 2014.
