adoptable dogALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Animal Services and the University of Florida Shelter Medicine Club are hosting the fourth annual "Summer Loving" adoption event on Saturday, August 24, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alachua County Animal Services Headquarters (3400 NW 53rd Ave., Gainesville).

All of the animals up for adoption will be free to the public with an approved application. Vouchers will also be offered at this event for those who do not find the best animal for them. All adopted animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, registered, and licensed with the County.

K-Country 93.7 FM radio will be broadcasting live at the event, which will also include activity booths, and free food and drinks.

August is chosen for this event because it is one of the busiest months for pet intake, and room must be made for new animals at the shelter. The “Summer Loving” event has been the shelter’s most successful animal adoption event for the last three years. Over 180 animals were adopted at last year’s event.
