Planning Commission and Development Review Meetings

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Planning Commission and the Development Review Committee will meet next week. Both meetings will take place in room 209 of the County Administration Building located at 12 SE 1st Street downtown Gainesville.

Items for the Wednesday, October 17, 2012, 6 p.m. Planning Commission

·         ZOM-10-12 is a public hearing for a rezoning from ‘BP’ (Business/Professional) district to ‘BR’ (Business Retail Sales) district at 6711 SW Archer Road on approximately 2.24 acres.  This rezoning, if approved by the Board of County Commissioners, will permit all uses called for in the Alachua County Code for the BR zoning district.  These include personal services (such as massage therapy or beauty salon), professional services (law, architectural or medical offices) as well as retail sales including convenience stores.    All materials related to this application are available for review at the Office of Growth Management.  Please contact the Alachua County Growth Management Department at 374-5249 or Jerry Brewington at glb@alachuacounty.us for further information. 

·         CPA-08-10 is a public hearing to amend the policies for Rural Employment Centers found in the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan.  Rural Employment Centers are located outside the urbanized areas of the County and have more than 100 employees, usually with a single large employer.  The County is requesting to amend the policies for these centers to allow additional commercial uses within the centers in addition to the industrial and office uses already permitted.  All materials related to this application are available for review at the Office of Growth Management.  Please contact the Alachua County Growth Management Department at 374-5249 or Jerry Brewington at glb@alachuacounty.us for further information.

·         CPA-09-10  is an application by Alachua County to amend the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan to change the Future Land Use Map designation of approximately 23.0 acres from “Heavy Industrial” to “Low Density Residential” (1-4 dwelling units per acre) for the area generally located north of NE 39th Avenue,  south of NE 27th Avenue, and east of NE 59th Street  The proposed amendment would also change the Future Land Use Map designation of approximately 59.3 acres from “Heavy Industrial” to “Estate Residential” (max. 1 dwelling unit per 2 acres) for the area generally north of NE 27th Avenue, south of Gainesville Regional Airport, and east of NE 59th Street.  These properties are located southeast of Gainesville Regional Airport.  The purpose of this request is to bring the land use in line with the residential character of the area.  All materials related to this application are available for review at the Office of Growth Management.  Please contact the Alachua County Growth Management Department at 374-5249 or Ben Chumley at bdchumley@alachuacounty.us for further information.

·         County Line Recycling Facility - A public hearing to consider the construction of a C and D Class III Debris Recycling Facility on approximately 2.4 acres– Located on Tax Parcel Numbers 07240-001-004 and 07240-001-017 at 5008 SW 41st Boulevard  - Eng, Denman & Associates – Agents. Manufacturing and Services Industrial Zoning; Heavy Industrial Future Land Use ZOX-01-12.
