“The Invisible War” Film Screening

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center, Alachua County Veteran Services, and the Civic Media Center are hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary “The Invisible War” at the Civic Media Center (433 S Main St., Gainesville), on September 24, 2012 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The film, from Oscar and Emmy nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick, investigates rape within the U.S. military, which in the last decade, is believed to number in the hundreds of thousands.

Alachua County Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center and Alachua County Veteran Services recognize the importance of supporting survivors of military sexual trauma. Alachua County Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center provides counseling and support groups for all survivors of rape trauma, and Alachua County Veteran Services assists veterans and their family members in securing all benefits earned as a result of serving in the military.
