February Family and Consumer Sciences Programs

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Extension Office is pleased to announce the following Family and Consumer Sciences Programs, for February, 2012. These programs are offered by Brenda Williams, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent at the Extension Office (2800 NE 39th Avenue, Gainesville).

Financial Management Series

Getting Your Finances Under Control and Making Credit Work for You – February 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

This session is designed for those who want to review the components of credit scores, better understand the credit laws and get their finances under better control. Young couples and college students are invited as well as any who wish to attend.

No fee for this program. Registration is recommended but not required.

Basic Estate Planning – February 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Topics include: Wills, Living Wills and Surrogate Designation for Health Care. This session is especially encouraged for parents with minor aged children.

No fee for this program. Registration is recommended but not required.

Home Food Preservation Workshop – February 23, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and repeated from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Basic information on canning foods using the steam pressure canner or boiling-water canner. Directions and tips will also be included on making jams, jellies and pickles.

There is no cost, but registration is required at least three working days prior to workshop. Printed materials will be available for $3.00 per set.
