Metropolitan Transportation Planning OrganizationALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO) for the Gainesville Urbanized Area will conduct its Regular Business Meeting on April 23, 2018.  The meeting begins at 3 p.m. in the Jack Durrance Auditorium (Room 209) on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building located at 12 S.E. 1st Street, Gainesville, Florida.

Items of interest at this Meeting include:

1. Transportation Improvement Program Amendment – Federal Transit Administration Grant Awards to the Regional Transit System
2. Florida Department of Transportation Interstate 75 Relief Update –Letters to the Governor and Secretary of Transportation
3. State Road 222 (N.E. 39th Avenue) Crosswalk N.E. 28th Drive Bus Terminal – Turnaround Cost Estimate
4. State Highway System Roundabouts – Roundabout Location Recommendation
5. Traffic management Coordination Presentation
6. Unified Planning Work Program
7. Year 2045 Long-Range Transportation Plan Update – Request for Qualifications and Scope of Service

Voting members consist of the five Alachua County Commissioners and the Mayor and the six City of Gainesville Commissioners.  Non-voting members are The University of Florida President’s designee, a Rural Advisor designated by the Alachua County League of Cities and the Florida Department of Transportation District 2 Secretary’s designee.  Staff services are provided by the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council.

The Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization is responsible for the continuing, comprehensive and cooperative urban transportation planning program for the Gainesville Metropolitan Area.  This planning program is required in order to receive federal and state funds for transportation projects.

There is an opportunity for public comment for each agenda item during the Regular Business Meeting.  In addition, there is an opportunity for citizens to speak to items not on the agenda during Citizens Comments at the end of the meeting.  Citizens are encouraged to attend meetings, view them live on Cox Channel 12, or on Alachua County’s Video on Demand website.
