County Commission Regular Meeting Start Time Changes

Beginning on April 9, 2019, The County Commission is changing the start time of their Regular Meetings that take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Currently the start time for these meetings is 9 a.m. The new start time is 11:30 a.m. The first of four Public Comment periods will begin at noon. These changes will not affect the Tuesday, March 26, Regular Meeting (It begins at 9 a.m., and the first Public Comment period will begin at 9:30 a.m.).

In the past, at the second and fourth Tuesday meetings, the County Commission has held a Regular Meeting in the daytime and a Public Hearing in the evening. Moving forward, these meetings will be consolidated into one Regular Meeting. The one Regular Meeting will include daytime and evening items. When the daytime items are completed, the meeting will be recessed. The evening portion of the meeting will be reconvened at 5:01 p.m. The first evening public comment period is at 5:30 p.m.

The meetings are in the Jack Durrance Auditorium (Room 209), located on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building (12 S.E. 1st Street, downtown Gainesville).

There are four public comment opportunities during the Regular Meeting, which enable citizens to speak to items, not on the agenda. The public is encouraged to attend the meetings. They will be available to view live on Facebook, Cox Channel 12, and on the County’s Video on Demand website.
